WeblogsInc Sells Out to AOL for $25 Million, Gawker Staying Put

The big news today is the sale of WeblogsInc to American Online. Good news for Jason and company, great news for Gawker Media.

I've had several people mention how Jason arguably sold out too late last time and didn't want to miss the boat again. Seems like he didn't miss it this time!

The question is what will AOL do to the company?

That's so funny...a post about how WIN gets sold, Gawker has no more independent competition, etc...right before a post about how Gizmodo "partners" with a media comglomerate...i think they call that....hypocricy

A fair point, but we're talking apples and oranges. Gawker Media has a licensing deal with VNU to license content internationally. WeblogsInc sold its entire company to AOL Time Warner.
